I HEAR VOICES…PART 3

Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

John 14:17 (NIV) the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

The Bible is clear, and I know from my own personal experiences that Gods voice is one that is available to those that listen. As a Spirit filled believer I have the Holy Spirit living inside of me. The Holy Spirit is called the “Spirit of Truth” and whenever I am confused or wavering from the God ordained path that I am commissioned to walk the Spirit of truth is so close IF only I would listen.
There are several reasons that I don’t listen to the voice of God though and I’ll name just a few. The first is pride. My sinful pride says “I’m sure I can do it all by myself”. And if I ever need a little “pick me up” I’ll go right ahead and ask the Holy Spirit for a quick consult. The second reason is that I might be enjoying my sin for the moment and inclining my ear to God is sure to get me a quick rebuke, so I’ll plug my ears and keep on going on my rebellious path. The last is that I don’t HEAR his voice. This is not God’s fault but my own. I can easily fall prey to believing that the loudest voice is the right voice. I fail to sort through the mess of voices and train my ear to the voice of God
But I don’t want to ever fall into these pitfalls. So every day as a believer I have to make a concerted decision to humble myself under the mighty hand of God. I have to choose to forgo the temporary pleasures of sin for the long-term fulfillment of doing Gods will. And lastly every day I have to make my prayer that of young Samuel in 1 Samuel 3:9… SPEAK LORD YOUR SERVENT IS LISTENING.
