Yesterday I spoke about being with Jesus. That’s the what, today I want to talk about the how.
1. A TIME
-People will squabble over this saying morning is better than night ect. But I have to kids so I my time shifts, i.e. when they are sleeping.
Mark 1:35 (NIV) Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
2. A FLOW
–Jabez, A.C.T.S., Lords prayer, whatever works. I’m a bullet point intercessor personally. I have a list. Wife, kids, family, personal issues, others ect. Ect. If your prayer life is stagnant change the format. In exersise its called “shocking” your muscles. Shock your prayer life and rejuvenate your flow
3. A PLACE
–This is so important. I’m A.D.D…. no seriously I am. So for me I have to be moving. I can pray more focused in activity than in can being sedentary. The bible calls it your prayer closet. Find what works and work it. I don’t always pray in my house, sometimes I hear God with great clarity and can pray best when I’m on a multiple hour run
Matthew 6:6 (KJV) But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
4. AN UNDERSTANDING -When I pray in don’t do it out of religious obligation but a knowing that the God of the universe had made his ear available to me. When I Pray it goes from my lips to Gods ears and he truly responds to me. I could blog for weeks about how God has moved and answered my prayers
James 5:16 (The Message) …The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.
1 Peter 3:12 (NLT) The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers.Hebrews 11:6 (NLT) And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
