HEARING GODS VOICE PART 4… CIRCUMSTANCES

two_paths.jpgProverbs 3:6 (Amplified Bible) In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

Circumstances I believe “CAN” be an indicator of Gods voice. The sale pending falls through on the house you want to buy. An unexpected scholarship comes through on a college you want to attend. The flight gets unexpectedly canceled on a trip you didn’t feel right about taking and on and on it goes. When I was growing up I would do what every teenager does. I would do everything in my power to twist, control and contour circumstances around my will. It was in these moments that my dad would say and often-repeated phrase. ”DON’T FORCE THE ACTION”. Man I hated it when he said that. But as an adult I realize the wisdom in it. So many times we want something SO BAD that Gods voice in the matter becomes entirely secondary and we do everything to make it happen. We over-stretch our wallet, our emotions or our time. In the process failing to hear God speak through the blatantly obvious circumstance that indicate the brakes would be a better choice than the throttle. Now sometimes we will have to go against the grain to do Gods will. But I have seen in my own life that I know I’m hearing Gods voice and on the right path because things just begin to “click”. I have people come to be for guidance about colleges. They ask should I go to college “A” or college “B”. I than ask which one accepted you. They say college “A”. “well then it looks like God has spoken to you through your circumstances”. Now its not always that easy, but sometimes it is. Look at the paths before you and ask yourself “which path is God making straight and plain”
