2 Timothy 2:3-4 (NIV) Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants to please his commanding officer.
Since I’ve been young I’ve had a fascination with are armed forces. Not just the armed forces but specifically the special forces, Army Rangers, Navy SEALS ect. Ect. In fact between the ages of 15-19 I seriously considered joining. There was just something about the steely look in the eye of a Navy SEAL or Army Ranger. I would watch hours of documentaries on the Discovery Channel fascinated by the focused look in the eyes of these highly trained warriors. I would watch the personal interviews conducted before the intense “hell week” began for these future Navy SEALs. They would ask “what will you do if you don’t succeed”. To this question they would receive two responses. The fist would be a clearly articulated plan “B”. the other answer would be along these lines…“I have no plan “B”..this is it. This was what I was born for”. Inevitably as the training intensified and the heat was turned up those that had a plan “B” would quit. As a Christian I don’t think it’s much different. Those that have a plan “B”, you know, in case this whole “Christianity” thing does work out for them inevitably backslide and pursue their plan “B”. As a good soldier of Jesus Christ I think its incumbent upon on us after we cross the bridge from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light to burn the bridge behind us and forsake any latent plan “B’s”. As the song goes “I have decided to follow Jesus no turning back, no turning back”.
Ask God to show you if your hanging on and alternate plans and ask him to give you strength you need to serve him and him alone
