GOOD SOLDIER – PART 2 – PATIENCE

2 Timothy 2:3(NLT) Endure suffering along with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

The definition of endure is “to remain firm under suffering or misfortune without yielding”…Today I want to talk about patience. Now before I begin I must admit that if there were ever a character quality that I’m not highly qualified to discuss it would be patience. Because when I want something I want it now. I order something of Amazon & begin tracking my package online within 25 seconds of placing my order. As if tracking it will make it get here faster.
Paul in 2nd Timothy is teaching his spiritual son the qualities that will help him achieve the destiny that God has for him. He tells him “ENDURE”. It means don’t me weak and quit when you don’t see the results you want right away. Christianity isn’t “24” & you’re not Jack Bauer & maybe just maybe it will take longer than 24 hours of following Christ to reap the rewards. Maybe more than 24 days…24 weeks…24 months…24 years…OUCH! I guess the question at this juncture is “how long are you willing to endure”. 2 Timothy 2:10 says “So I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen.”… As a good soldier we learn to have a soft heart to receive the strength of the Holy Sprit that gives strength to endure and thick skin that will help us resist the distractions of this world that will break us down & quit rather than endure

  1. Very good mark, I know I struggle with ADD. I start something and then oh look a shiny balloon. which i think is another form on impatience. I need to endure. thank you.
